The last rites of legendary Odia film actor Uttam Mohanty, who passed away while undergoing treatment for liver cirrhosis at a private hospital in Gurugram last night, will be done at Satya Nagar crematorium today with full state honours. A celebrated figure in the Odia film industry, Uttam starred in 135 Odia films, leaving an indelible mark on regional cinema. His contributions extended beyond Odisha, with appearances in 30 Bengali films and a Hindi movie, ‘Naya Zahar’.

Uttam was known for his versatility and played a wide range of roles that resonated with audiences across generations. His passing marks the end of an era in Odia cinema, where the legendary film star was admired for his natural acting style and compelling performances. He is survived by his renowned actor wife, Aparajita Mohanty, and son, Odia cine star Babushan.

Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi paid floral tribute to the legendary actor at Bhubaneswar this afternoon. The mortal remains of Uttam Mohanty have been kept at his residence for the last darshan by the public and his fans.
