Trinamool Congress needs to introspect: Saayoni Ghosh after apologising to Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee held a closed door meeting with her party members on Friday in a bid to course correct in the backdrop of the Sagardighi bypoll setback and ahead of the panchayat elections.

In the meeting, Trinamool youth wing president Saayoni Ghosh was among the leaders who were reportedly pulled up by Mamata over her shortcomings in works assigned to her.

Saayoni, who apologised to the party supremo in the meeting, on Saturday said the Trinamool needed to introspect which she did.

Speaking to the media, the actor-turned politician said, Time comes when a party needs to introspect. I did my part.

I have introspected on things which I could have done. I am answerable to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. I have no hesitation in admitting if I have failed in something, she said.

Mamata on Friday brought back the observer model in the party, assigning various top leaders in various districts of the state ahead of the crucial panchayat polls.

The Trinamool, which is facing massive corruption allegations on various fronts, was caught off-guard after the Congress in support of the Left pulled off a victory in Murshidabads Muslim-dominated assembly seat Sagardighi where bypoll was held recently.
