Massive landslides once again occurred at at least two places in Tlaksih as well as Hmunpui villages Jampui hills on Monday morning. Huge blocks of earth slithered down by the sharp cut sides and cut off the road from other parts. The villagers remained isolated for hours. When the news reached the administration it sent workforce to clear the roads. The landslips continue to shake the two villages as the NHIDCL fails to take any remedial method to rectify the unscientific and irresponsible road constructions despite experts’ warnings and suggestions.

“The earth moves again today 1 July. We don’t have to block the highway to express our grievances; nature blocks it anyway! “, said a Mizo elder adding that  , as they clear the blockades that put it at further risk of more slides, because it means they would remove the base that supports the soil. So it’s a never ending phenomenon until they put up a permanent strong and huge gravity retaining wall.

Since last year the tripuranet.com had s been carrying detailed reports on the catastrophy that seemed imminent over the Jampui hills rgion ffdue to irresponsible apathetic attitude of the NHIDCL. The ferquent massive and devastating lanslides became a serious issue  for which Tlaksih village had been caving in steadily. The entire village had been actually going down under as the hapless villagers were forced to save their properties, houses and the buried ancestors.
