In Mizoram, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Shobha Karandlaje said that India is the fifth-largest and the fastest-growing economy in the world. Speaking to media persons in Aizawl this afternoon, the minister stated that the country’s economy is growing rapidly due to the good governance witnessed over the last ten years.

The minister also mentioned that the government has empowered the people by launching various welfare schemes. Ms. Karandlaje said that the government is focusing on infrastructure development, adding that progress and development can only be achieved with a robust infrastructure.

Talking about the Northeast, the Minister stated that the Government is focusing on the development of the region. She added that the Northeast has an advantage in agriculture and horticulture products due to the organic nature of its produce. The minister emphasised that the government is allocating more funds and accelerating infrastructure development in the Northeast.
