Trinamool Congress, which largely depended on the West Bengal leaders and suffered near total rejection by the electors in the recently held by polls, seeks to introduce ‘West Bengal model governance’ here in Tripura. The TMC though tried to make an inroad in the state politics for the last one year , however, got its first office in the state on Monday. The office was set up at Chittaranjan Road of the city. Tripura Pradesh president Subal Bhowmik, West Bengal Minister Moloy Ghatak, Tripura Pradesh in-charge Rajib Banerjee, TMC leader Saayoni Ghosh, and other dignitaries were present in the inaugural programme.

After the rout now the TMC felt inauguration of the new office would mark the new beginning and people would join the party in large scale.

Trinamool State in-charge Rajib Banerjee said that the inauguration of the party office will begin the new journey for the party in Tripura.

Banerjee pointed out that party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee had said that Tripura  would be the next destination for the TMC and as such all the programmes and events would now be designed to ensure that Tripura went in next assembly polls for Bengal model of governance . “We will continue to fight for Tripura,” he said.

While speaking to the reporters Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev came down  on the state government alleging ‘intolerance and curtailing  the political rights of other parties’. She claimed that TMC could not open its office for the last one year due to ruling BJP.

“In a democratic country, it took a political party one year to establish its own party office in another state. This was not due to the lack of our efforts but other reasons. We want to assure all sections of people that we will stand by their side and fight for them. We will fight the 2023 Assembly elections with all might and in a peaceful manner,” she said

Tripura TMC president Subal Bhowmik said, even last night, the ruling party tried to create obstructions to halt the inauguration of our party office. But the people of Tripura are with us and they want Mamata Banerjee’s leadership to free Tripura of the oppressive BJP regime,” Bhowmik said.
