Tripura government is bringing back the state’s students presently studying in Manipur in view of the violent situation there.

The Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha  said “in continuation of the efforts to help the students of Tripura studying in Manipur, a special team has been sent by the state government to Manipur for coordinating and bringing back Tripura’s students”.  Dr Saha who held a meeting with the Chief Secretary J K Sinha, the DGP Amitabh Ranjan, and the secretaries of relevant departments to discuss the current situation of the students of Tripura studying at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Central Agricultural University in Manipur on Friday once again met the officials and held a press conference with Chief Secretary J K Sinha and DGP Amitabh Ranjan.

“Besides, necessary arrangements have been made to bring them back by flight at the earliest”, the Chief Minister said adding that he talked to Manipur Chief Minister on Saturday once again and discussed the issue in details.  The Chief Minister also called Union Home Minister Amit Sahah and discussed the situation.

Dr Saha also talked to the guardians of the students and assured them that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure the students’ safety and their return to the state. He even arranged parents’ direct talks with Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh who in turn assured the parents that there was nothing to worry, all steps were taken for the students’ safety and security.

“The state government is fully alive on the issue and we are leaving no stone unturned. There is no need to be panicked”, he said.

During the meeting, the DGP and representatives of the central forces present assured the Chief Minister that the situation in Manipur was under control and that all necessary security measures had been taken to ensure the safety of the students from Tripura studying at these institutions. The state government has also made efforts to keep in touch with the parents of the students and has provided helpline numbers (112, 1070/0381-2416045/2416241) as well as a WhatsApp number (8787676210) for any kind of assistance.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that the state government was in regular communication with the Manipur government and was also in contact with the students studying in Manipur. He urged all concerned parties to maintain peace and order and to resolve any issues through dialogue and discussions.

The situation in Manipur has been tense following clashes between different groups of students from the Northeast, and there were concerns about the safety of students from Tripura studying in Manipur. However, with the assurances provided by the DGP and representatives of the central forces, the Tripura government has expressed confidence in the measures taken to ensure the safety of its students.
