Council of Tiprasa Hoda leaders on Tuesday raised specific complaints of intrusion by Bangladeshi Chakma people at various parts of Dhalai district. Moreover, leaders also alleged the existence of an armed camp of Chakma infiltrators in Narkelkunja area at Dumboor. Also, Hoda raised a serious allegation against a section of Government employees of Chakma community relating to direct or indirect help in obtaining Indian citizenship documents.
However, clarifying that Tiprasa Hoda is not against Chakma people of the State and also, not against any particular community of the State, Hoda leaders raised the issue of infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals including Chakma.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala on Tuesday, the Tiprasa Hoda leaders said, “Chakma infiltrators are destroying the reserved forest and felling the trees at Bankumari area under Chaumanu in Dhalai district and settling down there.”
Continuing to point out further instances of Bangladeshi Chakma intrusion, Tiprasa Hoda leaders alleged, “Chakma people of Bangladesh have occupied illegally areas at Narkelkunj, Twichakma, Thakurchhara and Naikya Chhara. Besides, Pancharatan, Ratannagar, East Raima, Ramnagar and other areas are witnessing an increasing number of Chakma people”.
:” Besides, Bangladeshi Chakma people are settling down illegally at Karbook, Shilachhari, Pecharthal and Kanchanpur areas. As a result, local residents of those areas are spending days in tension and panic. This is spoiling the communal harmony of the State”, Hoda leaders alleged.
Quoting local sources, leaders of Tiprasa Hoda said, there is armed camp of Chakma people at Narkelkunja and the armed Chakma people control the entire Dumboor lake during nighttime. Hoda leaders also claimed, there exists water connectivity with Bangladesh and using waterways people move to and fro from Bangladesh from Dyke No 4 to Dyke No 8 and Champlengchhara. With the help of armed groups, Chakma people from Bangladesh is cultivating Mango, pineapple, Areca nut etc in Government land as well as involved in fisheries, poultry and piggery activities in the area. .
“Local Jamatia, Reang, Tripura, Debbarma, Molsom, Bengali and even local Chakma people are also facing hindrances in moving around the area”, Hoda leaders claimed.
Council of Tiprasa Hoda raised fingers at the role of a section of Government employees of Chakma community and alleged, some of the Chakma bureaucrats and government employees are directly or indirectly helping the Bangladeshi Chakma in obtaining Indian citizenship related documents like ROR, Aadhar Card, PRTC, Ration card, Rega job card etc.
Reiterating that Tiprasa Hoda’s intrusion issue focuses on Bangladeshi Chakma people, Hoda leaders clearly mentioned that the comments relating to this issue were not against the Chakma people of Tripura.
“We are not against the Chakma community of the state. We condemned and voiced against the illegal influx in Tripura from neighbouring Bangladesh”, leaders of the Council of Tiprasa Hoda said.
Addressing a press conference today the Council of Tiprasa Hoda leaders said, “We strongly condemn the spread of such propaganda against Tiprasa Hoda.”
“We are not against the Chakma community and neither we are against any community. We have simply voiced against the illegal infiltration from neighbouring Bangladesh in Tripura which is a matter of concern for all sections of people,” Tiprasa Hoda leaders said.
