TIPRA Motha supporters once again gheraoed Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia in Simna on Friday and raised slogan against another BJP leader Patal Kanya Jamatia – who was however not present in the venue.
Rampada Jamatia had gone to Darogamura School to attend a programme when a group slogan shouting women and some youngsters stormed into the area. Police personnel were deployed in large number and they managed to prevent the mob from doing any harm to the minister.
It was the second such incident that the BJP Minister and Janajati leader had faced in the past 48 hours.
“A health and administrative camp was organized at Darogamura School in Simna assembly constituency. As soon as the Janajati Welfare minister reached the spot, a large group started agitation,” said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mohanpur- Kamal Majumder.
Deployment of security personnel in adequate numbers helped manage the situation. The situation was tense but remained well under control.
As the protestors got engaged in scuffling with the policemen and the police had to fire tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
The SDPO added that a policeman and two others were injured in stone pelting by the agitators and police had fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
BJP state vice-president Patal Kanya Jamatia held Tipra Motha responsible for the whole incident.
“It was Tipra Motha’s plot to disrupt the programme. It is the culture of Tipra Motha,” she said over the telephone.
Meanwhile, the protestors had raised the ‘Patal Kanya go back’ slogan though she was not present in the programme.
When asked about it, Jamatia said, “My presence is not the matter to Tipra Motha. Their agenda is to target me even if I am not present since they are now unable to stop BJP’s rise in the TTAADC areas.”
MP Rebati Tripura first came under such protest at Taidu recently and now, Janajati Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia faced the similar situation at Simna. In both the incidents, the agitators raised ‘Go Back Patal Kanya’ slogans but she was not present in any of the events.
A similar attack by the alleged Tipra Motha supporters was committed upon the BJP minister and the party’s state vice-president at Jampuijala on Thursday. The vehicle of the minister was damaged by the unruly Tipra Motha protestors.
