The School Education Department has taken strict action against three teachers from Champaknagar Higher Secondary School, suspending them for gross dereliction of duty. The suspended teachers—Gauri Majumdar, Rupa Debnath, and Kumkum Das—are all graduate-level educators at the institution.

The decision to suspend them came after the issue was brought to the attention of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, who also serves as the Education Minister. Upon reviewing the matter, the Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the severity of the teachers’ negligence, which resulted in an unfortunate incident involving students returning from an educational trip.

Authorities have not disclosed specific details of the incident, but sources indicate that the teachers’ failure to uphold their responsibilities put students at risk. The matter was deemed serious enough for immediate intervention at the highest level, leading to swift disciplinary action.

Emphasizing the importance of accountability in the education sector, Chief Minister Saha directed the School Education Department to ensure strict measures are in place to maintain discipline and safeguard the well-being of students. He reiterated that negligence in educational institutions would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Officials claimed that the state government remained steadfast in its commitment to creating a secure and fear-free learning environment for students. Officials have assured that further investigations will be conducted to prevent similar lapses in the future, reinforcing the administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward negligence in schools.
