Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that terrorism in Jammu Kashmir, insurgency in the northeast and left-wing extremism in some parts of the country have come down.

Addressing after reviewing the passing out parade of the 74th batch of Indian Police Service(IPS) probationers at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) here, Shah said that during the past eight years terrorism, insurgency and left-wing extremism have come down due to the proactive measures adopted by the BJP-led NDA government.

He said that during the past seven decades, the country has seen several ups and downs and also several challenging times as far as internal security is concerned.

He said that more than 36,000 police personnel sacrificed their lives during the challenging times.

He asked the IPS probationers to remain accessible, accountable and approachable to make policing strong and relevant.

A total of 195 officer trainee-166 IPS officer trainees including 37 women and 29 officer trainees from foreign countries took part in the Dikshant Parade.

The 29 foreign officer trainees are from Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Mauritius. On the occasion, Shah gave away the Indian Police service Martyrs Trophy for the best squad in Training to Karthik Shrotriya, IPS Trainee Officer.
