Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently recovering after he underwent a surgical procedure to get a pacemaker recently.

The 76-year-old action made an announcement about his recent surgery while appearing on the Mondays episode of Arnolds Pump Club podcast.

I have some personal news to share. Last Monday, I had surgery for a pacemaker and became a little bit more of a machine, he was quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter.

First of all, I want you to know Im doing great! I had my surgery on Monday, and by Friday, I was already at a big environmental event with my friend and fellow fitness crusader Jane Fonda, he continued, praising Fonda as someone who is healthy and looks fantastic.

Nobody would ever have thought I started the week with a surgery. I want to thank my whole team at the Cleveland Clinic. All of the doctors and nurses took amazing care of me and made the surgery as painless as possible, he added.

Why he needed the surgery?

The actor needed the surgery after some scar tissue from Schwarzeneggers previous procedures which made his heartbeat irregular.

The Terminator actor went to get a full check-up every year.

Schwarzenegger credited his good health for being diligent and staying in touch with my doctors and listening to them for him being in the healthy condition hes in today.

He said his mother did not get the valve replacement surgery and died in 1998.

I had my valves replaced for the first time in 1997, which required open heart surgery. They told me both valves would last 12 to 15 years, he reflected.

Apart from his career in movies, Arnold served as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

After playing the title character in the science fiction film The Terminator (1984), he starred in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) and three other sequels. His other successful action films included Commando (1985), The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), and True Lies (1994), in addition to comedy films such as Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Jingle All the Way (1996).
