Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said the state government has procured 64.5 lakh tonnes of paddy till date during the current rabi season as against 42 lakh tonnes during the same season last year. An official statement said 90 per cent of paddy procurement was completed, and the government credited the payments to the farmers within 48 hours of paddy procurement. The government also said a payment to a tune of 12 thousand 184 crore rupees has already been made this season.
The Chief Minister held a video conference with ministers and district collectors last evening from Hyderabad. Speaking at the conference, he said the state achieved a new record of the highest yield of 2.75 crore tonnes of paddy this year. In view of the advanced southwest monsoon, the Chief Minister instructed the district collectors to prepare an action plan and work out accordingly in the procurement of paddy in some places. He also assured that the government will purchase all paddy stockpiled in the market yards. Observing that the early onset of monsoon created trouble in the paddy procurement, he said over 21 lakh tonnes more paddy has been purchased in the current season.
