The Government of Tripura has officially announced the names of the “Best Schools and Colleges” across multiple categories to be felicitated on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, celebrated nationwide on September 5. The awards will recognize educational institutions that have demonstrated exceptional performance in academics, sports, culture, innovation, and overall contribution to student development.

The announcement comes as part of the state’s ongoing commitment to promote excellence in education and encourage healthy competition among schools and colleges. According to the Education Department, the initiative aims not only to celebrate institutions but also to acknowledge the tireless efforts of teachers and administrators who shape the future of students.

Awards by Categories

The awards have been divided into several categories to highlight the diverse achievements of institutions across Tripura.

Best in Attendance:

  • Dudhpur High School in Unakoti district has been declared the best-performing institution in ensuring consistent student attendance, a parameter that reflects both the school’s engagement with parents and its success in creating a welcoming environment for learners.

Best in Academic Results (TBSE & CBSE):

  • Kathalia Girls’ HS School in Sepahijala district has been selected as the best performer in the results of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE).

  • Rajnagar Colony HS School in South Tripura has been honored as the best in CBSE examination results.

Best in Games & Sports:

  • PM SHRI Nabagram HS School in West Tripura has bagged the award for its outstanding contribution to sports, a category introduced to recognize institutions that encourage physical fitness and nurture young sporting talents.

Best in Cultural & Co-curricular Activities:

  • Golden Valley HS School in North Tripura and Teliamura HS School in Khowai district have jointly been awarded for their achievements in fostering cultural and extracurricular development among students.

Best in PM POSHAN Implementation:
Four schools have been recognized for their effective execution of the PM POSHAN (midday meal) scheme, which plays a crucial role in ensuring nutrition and attendance. These are:

  • West Daluchara High School in Dhalai,

  • PM SHRI Jnanoday English Medium School in South Tripura,

  • PM SHRI Radha Kishore Institution in Unakoti, and

  • Sukanta Academy English Medium HS School in West Tripura.

Best in Information Technology (IT):
To highlight innovation and digital learning, the IT category award has been given to:

  • Kirit Bikram Institution in Gomati,

  • PM SHRI Sabroom Girls’ HS School in South Tripura,

  • Mungiabari HS School in Khowai, and

  • Kshudiram Basu English Medium School in West Tripura.

Best in Swachhata (Cleanliness):

  • Ratan Roaja Para High School in Dhalai and

  • West Bokafa HS School in South Tripura were adjudged as the best institutions in terms of cleanliness and hygiene practices.

Best in Overall Performance:

  • Bhagat Singh English Medium HS School in West Tripura emerged as the overall best performer for its balanced excellence across academics, co-curriculars, infrastructure, and student welfare.

Awards for Higher Education Institutions

Recognizing the role of higher education in shaping young adults, the government has also extended the felicitation to colleges:

  • Netaji Subhas Mahavidyalaya in Gomati district has been awarded the Best Government Degree College Award.

  • TTAADC Polytechnic Institution in West Tripura has received the Best Polytechnic Institution Award.

Green Initiative Awards

In addition to the above categories, five schools have been specially nominated for their green initiatives, recognizing their efforts toward environmental conservation and sustainability. These are:

  • Mendi Hour High School (Dhalai),

  • Bir Bikram Institution (North Tripura),

  • Rabi Gopal Para High School (Sepahijala),

  • Sarashima HS School (South Tripura), and

  • Tripura Lokshikshaloya High School (West Tripura).

Felicitation on Teachers’ Day

The Principals and Headmasters of the selected schools and colleges will receive the awards at the state-level Teachers’ Day celebration on September 5, 2025. The program will be held in Agartala, where top dignitaries, education officials, and teachers will gather to honor the contributions of educators and institutions.
