Tanvi Sharma and Malvika Bansod set for women’s singles quarter

Indian shuttlers will feature in key quarter-final matches today at the Orléans Masters, with multiple appearances scheduled at the Palais des Sports in France. In women’s singles, Tanvi Sharma faces Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira at about 5:30 p.m. IST, while Malvika Bansod takes on compatriot Isharani Baruah around 7:00 p.m. IST, ensuring India a semi-finalist. In men’s doubles, M.R. Arjun and Hariharan Amsakarunan will play later in the evening. 
 
India’s strong showing in women’s singles comes after Sharma, 17, beat Anmol Kharb in straight games following her upset of Supanida Katethong. Bansod advanced past Wong Ling Ching, while Baruah defeated Wen Yu Zhang. In men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth exited in the opening round and Ayush Shetty lost in the second. In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde were eliminated in three games by Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue.
