In the ICC T-20 Cricket World Cup 2026, India will begin their Super 8 campaign against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today. The match will begin at 7 PM.
The men in blue finished at the top of their group after winning all four matches. They had a slightly shaky start against the USA but later beat Namibia by 93 runs. India also defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in a highly anticipated match. In their final group game India defeated Netherlands by 17 runs.
On the other side South Africa began their tournament with a 57-run victory over Canada. In their second match, they needed a Super Over to secure a win against Afghanistan. The Proteas then defeated New Zealand by seven wickets, which confirmed their place in the Super Eights. They finished their group stage with a six-wicket win over the UAE.
In the Super 8 stage, Group 1 includes India, Zimbabwe, West Indies, and South Africa. Group 2 consists of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, and New Zealand. Each team will play three matches within their group. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. All teams begin the Super 8 stage with zero points, and net run rate from the earlier stage will not carry forward.
Meanwhile, the first Super 8 match between New Zealand and Pakistan was abandoned due to heavy rain in Colombo yesterday, with both teams sharing one point each. Pakistan will next play England on February 24 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. New Zealand will face Sri Lanka on February 25 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
