Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Sushanta Chowdhury and chairman of TTAADC’s advisory committee Pradyot Kishore Debbarma jointly held a meeting to address drinking water problem in some ADC areas.

They discussed various issues related to drinking water as well as the possible solution.

Chowdhury passed an instruction to the officials concerned to supply water through pipeline or tanker to crisis-hit areas from other places. He drew the attention of all concerned so that the people don’t face water crisis in this dry spell.

The TTAADC advisory committee chairman emphasized on enhancing the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the ADC areas and maintaining quality of supplied water.

Chief Executive Member of TTAADC Purna Chandra Jamatia highlighted benefits of the scheme and stressed on digging mini deep tube wells in more numbers. He also asked the officials to introduce solar system in the places where electricity is not available.

Principal Secretary of DWS department Kiran Gitte also participated in the meeting and said total 3,82,316 families are receiving the drinking water facility under Jal Jeevan Mission in the ADC areas. Besides, 1126 deep tube wells, 2359 small-bore, 23 surface water treatment plants and 387 iron removal plants are functioning in the ADC areas, he said.Deputy CEM of TTAADC Animedh Debbarma, MDC Kamal Koloi, MDC Bhavaranjan Reang, chairmen of zonal offices of all eight districts and other officials of the Drinking Water and Sanitation department were present in the meeting.
