Arun Kumar Bhowmik, representing the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI), filed his nomination for the West Tripura parliamentary election at Agartala on Thursday.The nomination was submitted to the District Election Officer (DEO) and RO, Dr. Vishal Kumar. The DEO confirmed that Bhowmik, a candidate from a registered but non-recognized party, was one of two candidates who filed nominations as of March 21.Prior to Bhowmik’s submission, Milan Padmura Singh, an independent candidate from Shantirbazar subdivision in South Tripura district, had also filed his nomination for the West parliamentary elections.The West parliamentary constituency is set to undergo elections in Phase 1 on April 19, with the East constituency following suit in Phase 2 on April 26. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4.
