In a significant breakthrough, the East Agartala police station on Friday announced the successful busting of a notorious gang of seven thieves responsible for a spate of theft incidents across different parts of the capital town during the month of November. The police operation not only led to the apprehension of the culprits but also resulted in the recovery of stolen items, including jewelry valued at over Rs. 7 lakhs.
The development unfolded following the initial detention of three individuals—Sujit Das, Antar Debbarma, and Jhuman Miah—on November 29. The subsequent interrogation of these suspects provided crucial leads that paved the way for further investigations.
Based on the information gleaned from the detained trio, the police expanded their efforts and managed to detain four more individuals linked to the gang. The additional suspects were identified as Akash Dey, Bapan Debnath, Diptanu Saha, and Tutan Barman.
A specific case was registered with the East PS, prompting the police to conduct a targeted operation to dismantle the gang and apprehend the culprits. A dedicated team of officers, under the leadership of OC Rana Chatterjee, was formed to address the rising concerns stemming from the reported theft incidents.
The police, aware of the modus operandi of the thieves, noted that the gang primarily targeted gold ornaments and cash. In response to this trend, the law enforcement team focused its efforts on apprehending the culprits involved in these specific types of thefts.
The culmination of the operation resulted in not only the arrest of all seven members of the gang but also the recovery of stolen items, including jewelry with an estimated value exceeding Rs. 7 lakhs. The successful resolution of these cases underscores the commitment of the East Agartala police to maintain law and order in the region.
The authorities have reassured the people of their continued efforts to address criminal activities and maintain a secure environment. The successful operation serves as a testament to the efficiency and dedication of the police force in East Agartala. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to further enhance the overall safety of the capital town.
