A pal of gloom and hopelessness descended among the 5500 teachers, who were recruited under Sarva Shiksh Abhiyan and are now working under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan even as the state cabinet skipped their regularization matter once again on Tuesday’s meeting.

It was highly hoped that Tuesday’s cabinet would take a positive decision in this regard especially in view of the fact that the deadline set by the High Court of Tripura for regularization of the SSA teachers had already ended on August 22 last. The verdict had been given on February 23 last by the Division Bench of Chief Justice AA Kureshi and Justice S Chattapodhyaya.

Only recently Education Minister Ratan lal Nath indicated that a positive decision would be taken soon, ostensibly in the Tuesday’s cabinet.

Many teachers who had gathered in front of the Secretariat alleged that though thepolitical executives were in favour of their regularisation some sort of bureaucratic red tapism put the spanner at the last moment.

Some of the teachers also indicated that they might move the Court again with a contempt of court petition.
