Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath has highlighted the importance of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) towards promoting peace, stability and sustainable development in the Indian Ocean Region.
Addressing the media alongside his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Khaleel, Mr. Herath appreciated the archipelago state’s support to Sri Lanka in regional collaboration.
Mr. Abdulla Khaleel enumerated the wide ranging discussions held with his Sri Lankan counterpart.
Mr. Khaleel is also scheduled to meet the Sri Lankan leadership later today. The Maldivian Minister is on a three day official visit to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka holds the chair of IORA while India is scheduled to assume the chair later this year.
