Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has called for collective action in dealing with traditional and non-traditional challenges in the Indian Ocean region. Speaking at the 12th Galle Dialogue, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister added that information sharing, coordination among navies and coast guards and confidence-building measures are needed for maintaining freedom of navigation, respect for international law and responses to challenges.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi is also scheduled to speak at the Galle Dialogue.
