In Sri Lanka, Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at Colombo Prof. Ankuran Dutta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging the translation and rendering of legendary singer-composer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s song into Sri Lanka’s official languages. Prime Minister Modi, during Mann Ki Baat programme today paid homage to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and played the Sinhala and Tamil renditions of the famous Assamese song Manuhe Manuhar Babe which is often referred to as the Anthem of Humanity. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani, Prof. Dutta said the songs were released on 8th September on the occasion of Birth Centenary celebrations of Dr. Hazarika.
