In squash, top-seeded Indian Anahat Singh advanced to her maiden women’s under-19 final at the British Junior Open squash championships with a straight-games win over Egypt’s Malika El Karaksy in the semifinals today. The 17-year-old Singh, a 12-time PSA Tour title winner, beat El Karaksy 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 in 28 minutes at the University of Birmingham venue in England.
Singh will face the European junior champion and second seed Lauren Baltayan of France in the final. It will be Singh’s ninth British Junior Open final across age groups. She is bidding to become only the second Indian to win the under-19 title, after Joshna Chinappa in 2005.
