Eminent scientist and Green Oscar winner Dr. SP Gon Chowdhury, has been awarded the prestigious title of “The Bengal Pride” by the community of expatriate Indian Bengalis in Britain. The award ceremony took place at the British Parliament, recognizing his significant contributions to science and environmental protection. Dr Gon Chaudhuri hails from Tripura and he studied here. His father was a senior police officer Nirapod Gon Chaudhuri.

The president of NGO Arkaneer he was also a recipient of Green Oscar (Ashden Award) in 2006.
