Six persons, including four men and two women, have been arrested in connection with the Hathras stampede that resulted in 121 deaths. While interacting with media, Inspector General (IG) of Police (Aligarh Range) Shalabh Mathur said that arrested six people are members of the organising committee and worked as Sevadars. These six arrested ‘sevadars’ had run away from the site after the stampede occurred. IG Mathur added that a One lakh rupees reward has been announced for information on the main accused Prakash Madhukar. Soon, a non-bailable warrant will be issued against him. Police will also investigate if this incident occurred due to a conspiracy.

IG Mathur said that all the 121 deceased who lost their lives in the incident have been identified. These include 112 women, two men, one girl and 6 children.

According to IG Mathur, Bhole Baba’s name is not mentioned in the FIR because permission for the religious event was not sought in his name. However, Bhole Baba will be interrogated if required, but it all depends on the course of the investigation. We are also probing reports of his criminal past, he added.
