Indian cricketer, Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the India A squad for the upcoming three-match one-day series against Australia A in Kanpur, which starts from September 30. However, Iyer will take a six-month break from red-ball cricket due to recurring back issues and will not play the Irani Cup. Rajat Patidar will lead the Rest of India squad against Ranji champions Vidarbha in the Irani Cup, starting October 1 in Nagpur. The BCCI confirmed Iyer’s decision, citing his focus on fitness and recovery after back surgery in 2023.
Meanwhile, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh will join the India A squad for the second and third one-dayers on October 3 and 5.
