In shooting, Asian Games medallist Shiva Narwal and shotgun shooter Sabeera Haris will spearhead a 71-member Indian contingent at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026, beginning today in Cairo. The squad also includes Abhinav Shaw. Shiva Narwal had earlier teamed up with Arjun Singh Cheema and Olympic medallist Sarabjot Singh to win India the 10m air pistol men’s team gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
Sabeera Haris brings senior-level experience, having won mixed trap bronze with Olympian Kynan Chenai at the ISSF World Cup 2025 in Cyprus. Abhinav Shaw, the Asian junior champion in men’s 10m air rifle, is also part of the squad. A total of 284 athletes from 25 federations will compete in Cairo, with India fielding the largest contingent.
India will participate in 18 medal events, including 15 Olympic disciplines. The Junior World Cup, for Under-21 shooters, features rifle, pistol, and shotgun events and runs until 27th of this month. At last year’s Junior World Cups in Suhl and New Delhi, Indian shooters topped the medal tally with 37 medals, including 17 golds.
