The Student Federation of India (SFI) and Tripura Students’ Union (TSU)- two student bodies of the CPM  strongly criticised the decision of the Tripura University (Central) postponing various examinations.

The Tripura University in its notification on Monday last cancelled the 6th-semester Honours and pass course examinations of general degree college, diploma level 6th semester and degree level 8th semester examination of the technical institutions, 4th semester of B.Ed course examinations and degree and diploma level examinations of tribal folk music course for 3rd-year students

In a press conference the SFI state secretary Sandipan Deb said, “the notification of the University which postponed the scheduled examinations came as bolt from the blue since the candidates were preparing for their examinations and now it would affect their career especially the students of technical institutions.”

“At a time when the central universities of different states have already announced their results, the Tripura Central University is lagging behind from conducting the pending examinations and in addition to this the varsity in its sudden decision had postponed other scheduled examinations,” Deb said.

The SFI and TSU leaders demanded the Tripura Varsity to conduct the postponed examinations online and announce the results to complete the academic year by August 31 next in accordance with the guidelines of the UGC released in the month of July last.

Deb also condemned the alleged police lathi charge on D.El.Ed students and lambasted the BJP government.
