Sensex rises 299 points to close at 74,828; Nifty gains 118 points to settle at 23,447

Benchmark domestic equity indices rebounded today. The Sensex rose 299 points or 0.4 per cent to close at 74,828. The Nifty jumped 118 points or half a per cent to settle at 23,447.
 
 
In the broader market at the National Stock Exchange, the Midcap 100 index climbed 0.7 per cent, while the Smallcap 100 index gained 0.9 per cent.
