Benchmark domestic equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, extended their initial losses and were trading with cuts in afternoon trade today. Sell-off across all sectors intensified with capital goods, services, and metal declining the most. Sensex nosedived 720 points, almost 0.9 per cent to 79 thousand 824 and Nifty slipped 223 points, or 0.91 per cent to 24 thousand 351, a short while ago. The broader market at the Bombay Stock Exchange was underperforming the frontline indices. The Mid-Cap index tanked 1.2 per cent, and the Small-Cap index dropped 1.4 per cent, a short while ago.
