Benchmark domestic equity indices ended on a negative note today. The Sensex declined 443 points or 0.6 per cent to close at 77,709. The Nifty lost 96 points or 0.4 per cent to settle at 24,239. However, in the broader market on the National Stock Exchange, Midcap 100 index rose 0.6 per cent and Smallcap 100 index added nearly 0.2 per cent.
In the forex market today, the rupee depreciated by 17 paise to trade at 96 rupees and 45 paise against the US dollar.
In the global crude oil market, Brent Crude was trading 0.1 per cent up at 88 US dollars and 23 cent per barrel, while WTI Crude was trading half a per cent down at 80 US dollars and nine cents per barrel in intra-day trade.
In the Indian bullion market, 24-Carat gold was trading up at 1,42,460 rupees per 10 grams, and silver was trading up at 2,19,520 rupees per kilogram, when reports last came in.
