Benchmark domestic equity indices ended 0.4 per cent lower today. The Sensex lost 330 points to close at 74,529. The Nifty dropped 85 points to settle at 23,329.
In the broader market at the National Stock Exchange, the Nifty Midcap 100 index dipped 0.1 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index declined 0.2 per cent.
In the forex market, the rupee depreciated by 22 paise to trade at 95 rupees and 59 paise against the US dollar.
In the global crude oil market, Brent Crude was trading 2.6 per cent down at 97 US dollars and 71 cents per barrel, while WTI Crude was trading 3.1 per cent lower at 92 US dollars and 78 cents per barrel in intra-day trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Gold for the October contract was trading 0.4 per cent down at 1,52,511 rupees per 10 grams, and Silver for the December contract was trading half a per cent lower at 2,38,130 rupees per kilogram, when reports last came in.
