Sensex and Nifty extend rally for third consecutive session

Extending their rally for a third consecutive session, domestic benchmark equity indices ended today’s trade with gains of more than half a per cent. The Sensex jumped 544 points or 0.7 per cent to close at 76,808, while the Nifty rose 135 points or 0.6 per cent to settle at 23,989.
 
In the broader market on the National Stock Exchange, the Midcap 100 as well as the Smallcap 100 indices gained 0.4 per cent. The further decline in global crude oil prices and a strengthening rupee boosted investor sentiment.
