Senior Communist leader, former MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy passes away

Senior Communist leader and former MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy passed away in Hyderabad late last evening while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. He was 83. A stalwart of the Communist Party of India (CPI), he served as the party’s general secretary from 2012 to 2019 and was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to workers’ rights and social justice.
 
He was elected twice as the Member of Parliament from Nalgonda constituency, in 1998 and 2004. Born in Mahbubnagar district, Sudhakar Reddy’s political journey began as a student leader in Kurnool and grew steadily as he took on leadership roles in the CPI, culminating in his national leadership for seven years.
 
Sudhakar Reddy’s contributions left a lasting impact on leftist politics in Telangana and across the country. He will be remembered as a dedicated parliamentarian and a passionate advocate for the rights of the marginalised.
