Security forces in Manipur recover 27 arms, explosives, and war-like stores during joint operations across six districts. Sixteen militants were apprehended, and efforts to engage youth through Agniveer drives are seeing strong responses.

The Indian Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and Manipur Police have conducted a series of joint operations across Manipur. Officials announced on Sunday that these efforts resulted in the recovery of 27 illegally held arms, several improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, assorted ammunition, and other war-like stores.

The operations were carried out in six districts — Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Senapati, Kakching, and Bishnupur. Among the seized arms were AK series rifles, Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), sub-machine guns, .303 rifles, single-barrel rifles, modified long-range mortars (Pompi), and improvised mortars.

Along with the arms, the security forces apprehended 16 militants associated with various valley and hill-based insurgent groups. A Defence spokesperson highlighted that the joint efforts also led to the recovery of pistols, mobile phones, two-wheelers, and cash from the arrested cadres. All recovered items and detained individuals have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation.

These coordinated operations underscore the security forces’ steadfast dedication to restoring law and order in the violence-affected regions of Manipur. The Defence PRO emphasized that these actions reflect an ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and securing the lives of the civilian population.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles also launched Agniveer registration drives under the Agnipath Scheme in the border district of Tengnoupal, which shares a frontier with Myanmar. Informative sessions were conducted across multiple villages, providing guidance on eligibility, selection processes, and benefits of becoming an Agniveer.

The initiative saw an enthusiastic response, especially from the youth in Moreh town, marking a significant step in fostering greater youth participation in the armed forces. Assam Rifles have pledged continued support through mentorship, preparatory training, and access to essential resources for aspiring candidates.

These efforts combined reflect a dual strategy — suppressing militancy through tactical operations while promoting long-term peace by engaging and empowering the youth.
