The figures highlighted the legal challenges faced by different departments of the state government and the outcomes of cases handled by the judiciary during the period.
According to the Assembly reply, courts disposed of 4,701 cases involving different state government departments over the past three years. Of these, verdicts were delivered in favour of the government in 1,524 cases, accounting for approximately 32.4 percent of the total cases disposed of.
However, the Assembly data did not specifically identify the outcomes of the remaining 3,177 cases as being favourable to the government. The Law Department did not provide any further classification or detailed breakdown of these cases in its response.
The data also showed that a significant number of legal matters involving the state government remain pending before various levels of the judiciary. A total of 727 cases are currently pending before the Supreme Court, High Court and subordinate courts.
The figures provide an overview of the state’s litigation position and indicate the continuing workload involving government departments across different judicial forums. While the government received favourable rulings in nearly one-third of the disposed cases, the absence of a detailed classification for the other cases leaves the overall outcome of the litigation difficult to assess.
