In Badminton, the top-seeded Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty pulled out of the Swiss Open in Basel today ahead of its quarter-final clash after a shoulder issue troubled Satwiksairaj. Satwik and Chirag were scheduled to clash with Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjaer and Rasmus Kjaer in the last-eight pairs stage of the tournament. Satwik and Chirag had survived a tense three-game battle against Japan’s Hiroki Okamura and Kyohei Yamashita, eventually sealing the win 21-15, 15-21, and 28-26 in a Round of 16 match yesterday.
In the Men’s Singles Quarter-final, India’s Tharun Mannepalli will face Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting tomorrow morning. Tharun produced a composed performance to defeat Malaysia’s Justin Hoh 21-14, 22-20 in a Round of 16 match today.
