At the World Badminton Championships, men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, women’s singles star PV Sindhu, and mixed doubles pair Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto have advanced to the quarterfinals in Paris. Rankireddy and Shetty defeated Olympic silver medallists Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China in a thrilling round of 16 match. PV Sindhu secured a straight-game win over World No. 2 Wang Zhiyi of China. She will face Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani for a semifinal spot today. Earlier yesterday, Kapila and Crasto upset two-time World Championships medallists Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet with a 21-11, 21-16 victory to reach the quarterfinals.
