Actress Sara Ali Khan expresses heartfelt gratitude for audience love towards her character Chumki in Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino. Sharing BTS moments, Sara thanks fans for embracing her role in the romantic drama. The film features an ensemble cast and released in theatres on July 4.

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan has penned a heartfelt note of gratitude to the audience for their overwhelming response to her character ‘Chumki’ in the recently released film Metro…In Dino. The romantic drama, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Basu, hit theatres on July 4 and has since been receiving positive reviews, particularly for its ensemble performances and emotional depth.

Sara took to her Instagram to share some candid, behind-the-scenes pictures from the set, expressing her happiness and appreciation for the audience’s love. “Grateful, blessed and so so so happy… Thank you for all the love you’ve given our film and thank you accepting and loving Chumki too,” she wrote. Adding a playful touch, she added, “P.S clearly there was no middle ground with our moods,” referring to the mix of goofy and emotional photos she posted.

The actress, who previously made her debut with Kedarnath, has been experimenting with a wide range of roles over the years. Her portrayal of Chumki has been described by critics as refreshingly authentic and emotionally nuanced. The character adds charm and complexity to Metro…In Dino, which serves as the third and final chapter in Anurag Basu’s acclaimed anthology trilogy that includes Life in a… Metro and Ludo.

In a prior exclusive conversation with IANS, Sara shared her experience of working under the visionary direction of Anurag Basu. She revealed how surprised she was by Basu’s unconventional and organic filmmaking style, which involves giving actors the freedom to explore their roles spontaneously.

“I was surprised throughout,” Sara admitted. “I think that the minute you let go, some surprising things land up happening. Basu da calls it magic. I feel like just being able to let free, let go, and truly be present in the moments that we were — the whole set would come alive.”

She emphasized the energy and atmosphere on the set that encouraged spontaneity and authenticity: “There was just a palpable energy in general, so you just had to let go, not think, and be there. And that was what we had to flow with.”

Sara’s reflections not only provide insight into the process of creating Metro…In Dino but also underscore the unique collaborative spirit behind the project. The film brings together an ensemble cast that includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, and Saswata Chatterjee. Each actor plays a vital role in weaving together the emotional and interconnected stories that define the film.

Metro…In Dino explores the complexities of urban relationships, touching upon themes of love, loneliness, hope, and human connection. True to Anurag Basu’s style, the film blends realism with poetic storytelling, offering viewers a rich cinematic experience.

The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, in association with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Ltd. It has been jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu.
