The Sadar District Congress staged a protest on Thursday against worsening civic conditions in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, particularly the rising mosquito menace. The protest march, which began from Pradesh Congress Bhavan, concluded at the municipal corporation office, where party leaders submitted a deputation to Mayor Dipak Majumdar.
A Congress leader stated that despite timely tax payments, AMC residents suffer due to irregular garbage disposal, poor drainage systems, and lack of proper mosquito control. “The mosquito problem is escalating due to the failure of municipal authorities in managing waste and maintaining drainage,” he said.
The Congress submitted a five-point demand seeking immediate action on mosquito eradication, safe drinking water, efficient garbage management, drainage improvements, and an increase in MGNREGA workdays to 200 per year.
