External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will embark on a two-day visit to the US on the 11th of this month for the India US 2 plus 2 Ministerial Dialogue in Washington. Dr Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the Indian delegation at the 2 plus 2 talks. The US delegation will be led by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.
Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the Dialogue would enable both sides to undertake a comprehensive review of cross-cutting issues in the India – US bilateral agenda related to foreign policy, defence and security. Mr Bagchi said the 2 plus 2 Dialogue Mechanism will also provide the opportunity to exchange views about important regional and global developments and how both countries can work together to address common interests and concerns.
Dr Jaishankar will also separately meet his US counterpart. He is also scheduled to meet senior members of the US administration to further advance the India-US global strategic partnership.
