India captain Rohit Sharma slammed a mesmerising knock of 131 off 196 balls on the first day on Thursday to lead his team to a respectable total following early setbacks.
While James Anderson picked Kuldeep Yadav early in the morning, Jadeja, who slammed a ton last evening, was caught and bowled by Joe Root at 112.
Debutant Sarfaraz Khan slammed a quick 62 (9 fours and 1 six) until he was run out due to a misunderstanding with his partner Jadeja.
Other debutant Dhruv Jurel made a significant contribution scoring 46 off 104 balls batting down the order.
Allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin (37 off 89 balls) and Jasprit Bumrah collected 26 off 28 balls to help India inch towards the 450-mark.
The five-match Test series is level at 1-1.
