The Karnataka state police have arrested RCB cricket team marketing Head Nikhil Sosale, DNA Entertainment Private Limited managers Sunil Mathew and Kiran Kumar, about the stampede in Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru last Wednesday. Following the Magisterial, Judicial and CID enquiry by the Government in the stampede during the RCB victory celebration, suspension of several police officers, including the Bengaluru city Police Commissioner B Dayanand, was initiated yesterday. Addressing a joint press conference in Bengaluru today, Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy, BJP leader and leader of the Opposition in the legislative Assembly R Ashoka and BJP state President Vijyendra charged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar ignored the police advice and went ahead with the RCB victory celebration, and hence they are responsible for the deaths of 11 persons. Seeking their resignations, the opposition leaders regretted that the Government is making police officers scapegoats for their lapses. Meanwhile, after the suspension of Bengaluru city police Commissioner B Dayanand, his post has been handed over to Seemant Kumar Singh, who took over charge today.
