Rape victim decides to pursue case for justice –

In Bangladesh, a 25-year-old woman, who was the victim of a heinous rape, has decided to pursue legal action, despite initially considering withdrawal after alleged pressure from her husband and some local residents.Police have arrested the prime accused, Fazar Ali Fazar, aged 36, from the Sutrapur area in Dhaka early Sunday. Yesterday, police sought a 7-day remand for four other youths arrested in connection with the incident, which took place in Cumilla’s Muradnagar.A bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur asked the BTRC to submit a progress report by July 14.The court also directed the authorities to ensure the safety and medical care of the survivor.
