In Rajasthan, the police today arrested an independent candidate Naresh Meena from Deoli-Uniara assembly seat bye-election in the case of assault on the subdivision officer yesterday during polling at Samrawata village. Mr. Meena was taken into custody amidst heavy police presence from Samrawata village.

During this, the police had to use mild force on his supporters. After the arrest of Mr. Meena, the situation in the village remains tense but under control. Some people including policemen were injured, and many vehicles were vandalized due to violence broken out after the clash between police and Meena’s supporters in Samrawata village last night. IG of Ajmer Range Om Prakash told Akashwani that four cases have been registered in yesterday’s incident and sixty people have been taken into custody.

Yesterday, during the polling in the by-election, independent candidate Naresh Meena assaulted the subdivision officer at the polling booth of Samrawata village of the Deoli-Uniara seat. After this, tension spread in the area. The State Administrative Service officers had warned of boycotting work today demanding the arrest of the accused.
