Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today requested the Centre to declare the Wayanad landslide as a national disaster.
Raising the issue of the Wayanad landslide during the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, Mr. Gandhi urged the Centre to enhance the compensation to victims of the natural disaster they are getting.
He also urged the Centre to announce a comprehensive rehabilitation package for Wayanad including building disaster-resilient infrastructure and helping the communities affected.
Mr. Gandhi also commended the work of the Union and State Governments, NDRF, SDRF, Army, Navy, Cost Guard, Fire Department and other states in relief and assistance provided to affected people.
