Punjab State Women Commission has taken a suo-moto cognizance of the alleged remarks by Congress MP and former Chief Minister, Charanjit Singh Channi against women and some communities. The commission has served a notice to him asking why an action should not be taken against him.
Charanjit Singh Channi has allegedly used insulting and objectionable remarks while addressing a political rally in the Gidderbaha assembly constituency of Muktsar, where the by-poll is scheduled on the 20th of November.
The Commission has summoned Channi to appear before it tomorrow to clarify.
