The Punjab Police has booked eight travel agents on the complaints of the recent US deportees who are from Punjab and were defrauded by these agents on the false promise of illegal entry in the US.
The Police cases were registered after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under ADG, Police, NRI Affairs, Punjab, Praveen Sinha. ADGP, Internal Security, Shive Kumar Verma, IGP, Dr S Boopathi and DIG Border Range Range, Satinder Singh are also part of the SIT. A US aircraft carrying 104 illegal Indian immigrants was landed at the Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar on 5th of this month.
