Breaching all previous records, Puducherry is heading towards the highest-ever voter turnout in its Assembly election history. As per the latest update till 5 PM, the Union Territory has recorded an impressive turnout of 86.92%. With one hour of polling records still remaining, this has already surpassed the previous record. The highest voter turnout in Puducherry was earlier recorded in 2011, when 85.57% of voters exercised their franchise.
Among the districts, Puducherry’s 25 constituencies have recorded an average turnout of 87.47%. Karaikal’s five constituencies have registered 84.13%. At the constituency level, Oussudu has reported the highest turnout so far, with 92.04% of voters casting their votes. Mahe, the enclave of Puducherry in Kerala, has recorded the lowest turnout at 72.36% among the 30 constituencies.
Notably, seven constituencies have already crossed the 90% mark, while 22 constituencies have recorded over 80% polling by 5 PM, reflecting strong voter enthusiasm across the Union Territory.
