Prime Minister’s visit to Namibia important to shape India-Africa Forum Summit and  Global South Priorities  –

 
In the last leg of his five-nation visit,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Namibia tomorrow on his maiden visit. This will be the third ever Prime Ministerial visit to Namibia, taking place after a gap of 27 years. Mr. Modi  will hold bilateral talks with the Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. He is also scheduled to deliver an address at the Parliament of Namibia. During the visit,  Prime Minister Modi will also be conferred with the highest civilian award of Namibia. Our correspondent reports that the visit will shape the upcoming India-Africa Forum Summit and  Global South Priorities. 
 With Africa increasingly central to India’s foreign policy, PM’s visit to Namibia will play a significant role in shaping the upcoming India-Africa Forum Summit. Namibia has vast reserves of critical and strategic minerals which are essential for India’s clean energy transition and meet its present and future energy demands. Indian High Commissioner to Namibia Rahul Srivastava said from challenges ranging from climate change to food security and industrial development, India and Namibia will explore similar solutions during the upcoming visit.
        Apart from deepening cooperation in key sectors such as Energy, Oil and Gas, critical minerals and Digital Infrastructure, Health will also be one of the key agenda of the bilateral talks between the two leaders, especially in terms of access to affordable medicines and traditional Indian health solutions. Introduction of Jan Aushadhi scheme in Namibia will also be discussed.
